A year to remember,1968

I was a freshman in 68 and my first experience away from home. The people I met and places I saw, will never be forgotten. Living at the Leed's St. complex with Brother Jean, and Father John Charles was unique. Going to my first Proffessional Baseball game at Fenway Park and visiting Harvard for a pesentation of "The Merchant of Venice",can't be topped. Red Sox forever. Most of all my roomates and upperclassmen, Frank Proulx, Phil Lombardo, Rob Roy, Reg Szocki, Dave Nocchioli, Mark Levine and my best friend Andre Paquette, I,m not sure where they all are now and sorry if I misspelled any names, but if anyone reads this and knows the whereabouts of any of the above, please email me with any info. AN EXPERIENCE TO REMEMBER

There were tough moments, like the semester I got a grade of 67 in French from Fr. Etienne. But 45 years after graduating (!), what I treasure most is the love of learning that was nurtured in me through hard work, excellent teaching, and a community of students and elders working together happily and toward the same goal. We felt like we were part of something far greater than ourselves, trying to do our best in every domain: studies of course, but also extracurricular activities (I was an awful debater, but worked hard at it!), sports, spiritual pursuits and friendships. Some individual teachers and Assumptionists stand out in my memory, but it was the community living out their faith and working together to educate young men for life and for service that obviously had the deepest impact, enough to make me want to “join” and be an Assumptionist. It was a good choice!
